This one was inevitable, but it stings nonetheless. Despite her constant inability to explain how she’ll pay for her schemes, New York has elected wild-eyed socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to the House of Representatives.
She will, most likely, take over for Nancy Pelosi as the young fresh face of the foot-in-mouth wing of the Democrat party.
“Progressive Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez won her race for a U.S. House seat in New York’s 14th District on Tuesday, becoming the youngest woman ever elected to Congress.
The 29-year-old political newcomer made headlines nationwide in June when she unexpectedly defeated 10-term Rep. Joe Crowley in the Democratic primary.On Tuesday, Ocasio-Cortez easily prevailed in the heavily Democratic district against Republican opponent Anthony Pappas, a St. John’s University professor.
…A member of the Democratic Socialists of America, Ocasio-Cortez is part of a wave of progressive Democrats promising to push the party establishment further left. She refused any corporate PAC money in her campaign and ran on a boldly progressive platform that included Medicare for all, a federal jobs guarantee and the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.”We look forward to seeing a whole lot more of Ocasio-Cortez, as she attempts to understand the theories behind basic economics and civics 101 – both subjects that have caused her much consternation in the past.
Democrats are incapable of shame, so Ocasio Cortez won’t embarrass them, but she will probably emerge as the latest inheritor of the ridiculous mantle held by Maxine Waters, Sheila Jackson Lee, and Nancy Pelosi. That is to say; she’ll be the person the rest of her party is forced to pretend to love, while simultaneously living down comments like these:
