Chávez Decisively Wins Bid to End Term Limits


President Hugo Chávez of Venezuela waved to supporters from the balcony of the presidential palace after the results of the referendum were announced.

President Hugo Chávez handily won a referendum on Sunday that will end presidential term limits, allowing him to run for re-election indefinitely and injecting fresh vibrancy into his socialist-inspired revolution.

Had Bush not been so unpopular the last few months, I wouldn't have been surprised had he pushed for such a dangerous precedent here. There are good reasons for term limitations.
