Halliburton, a defense contractor and oil-service company once headed by former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney, said it is willing pay a $559 million settlement to end to a bribery investigation under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
If the settlement is approved by the U.S. government, Halliburton will pay $382 million to the Justice Department and $177 million in "disgorgement" to the Securities and Exchange Commission.

(So what else are they hiding that they don’t want this investigation to continue? Would Dick Cheney be put in a bad light if more is discovered?)
