Tucker Carlson: ‘It’s chilling’ how MSNBC and CNN are agitating for war with Iran

Fox News host Tucker Carlson is alarmed by the escalation of tensions with Iran and slammed the media as well as  National Security Advisor John Bolton for their “chilling” actions in response.

Carlson called out Bolton and news outlets like CNN and MSNBC for fanning the flames and inching the U.S. closer to a war with Iran during “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Tuesday.

“More than anything in the world, National Security Advisor John Bolton would love to have a war with Iran. It will be like Christmas, Thanksgiving, his birthday wrapped into one,” Carlson said. “Mercifully, John Bolton does not control the military. President Trump does.”

“The question is, how influential is Bolton in the White House?” Carlson asked.

“Last week he announced a Carrier strike force is being sent to the Persian Gulf to check Iran,” he said, referring to Bolton’s announcement that the U.S. is sending the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group and a bomber task force to the Middle East.

“Now the president has been presented with a plan to deploy 120,000 American troops to the Middle East,” Carlson added, referring to reports which the president has denied.

“I think it’s fake news, OK?” Trump told reporters outside of the White House Tuesday. “Now, would I do that? Absolutely. But we have not planned for that. Hopefully, we’re not going to have to plan for that. And if we did that, we’d send a hell of a lot more troops than that.”

“How is a war with Iran in America’s interest in any way?” Carlson wondered, turning to his guest, retired Army Colonel Douglas Macgregor, for insight.

“We have a manufactured crisis. There is nothing new in this intelligence,” Macgregor said. “There is no evidence that Iran wants to attack us. Quite the contrary. I think that they would like to avoid any conflict with us under any and all circumstances.”

He suggested that those who “persuaded the president to take these actions” are just hoping “something will happen” once a “large number of forces” are placed “in close proximity to Iran in a small area like the Persian Gulf.”

“It looks like a Gulf of Tonkin incident with missiles in the making,” Macgregor said.

Trump has warned that if Iran does anything it would be ” a very bad mistake” on their part.

Meanwhile, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s advisor threatened Tuesday that Trump will get a “war” for listening to Bolton, referring to him as “the mustache.”

“What do we gain? Is this supposed to persuade the Iranians that they should not keep some additional enriched uranium? Is this designed to make them capitulate to the series of demands that Mr. Pompeo put in front of them? If so, I think that is ludicrous. I do not see any evidence of that happening,” Macgregor told Carlson Tuesday.

“Is this designed to drive a wedge between Russia and China? On the opposite, I think you will force cohesion on all of the great continental powers against us. They are going to look at any action we might take against Iran as a precursor to future action we may take against them.,” he argued.

“I do not see the president gaining from this. I see that he loses. I don’t see how he gets reelected. I do not see how he achieves anything in the Gulf that is positive for the United States and the American people,” he concluded.

“In the foreign policy establishment there is a large group of people who are intent on a war with Iran,” Carlson noted.

“If we get into a killing spree with the Iranians, they will come in. And we will find ourselves without a back door to get out easily,” Macgregor warned. “This is not a good thing for the United States.”
Carlson agreed, pointing to the “usual suspects” like MSNBC, CNN and others who are “agitating” for it but who don’t have America’s interests at heart.

“It is chilling,” Carlson concluded.
