Did you know Britney Spears' music is used by the US Navy against Somali pirates - and it really works? (VIDEO)
The security team of the US navy has chosen as its second line of defense against Somali pirates: Britney Spears' music. Specifically, her songs, "Oops I Did It Again" and "Hit Me Baby One More Time."
Apparently, the pirates hate Western culture so much, that they run at the sound of the music.
The tactic is so effective, some credit it for decreasing the number of pirate attacks in the region completely.
This isn't the first time American music has been used as a weapon. So what does that say about the US' pop culture? The Resident (aka Lori Harfenist) discusses.
