Students lobby Congress for lower student debt (VIDEO)







Americans owe over $1 trillion in student loans, and tuition at public colleges has exploded over 500% since 1985.

Next year, Congress will debate the reauthorization of the Higher Education Act, which governs how federal financial aid is awarded to colleges and students.

Now, student and consumer groups are lobbying Congress to adopt reforms that they say would restore fairness to the student-loan system.

RT's Ameera David asks Natalia Abrams, co-founder of Student Debt Crisis, what reforms her group hopes to see in the reauthorization bill.
