How do internet lies get spread? By well-meaning people who pass things on without checking.

Monsanto is one of the worst companies in the world, so it should come as no surprise that they hired an arm of Xe (the mercenary company formerly known as Blackwater) to dig up dirt on anti-GMO activists.

Fortunately, and contrary to a number of reports circulation on the internet, the world’s biggest purveyor of genetically modified seeds that has been doing its best to destroy traditional farming from Iowa to Iraq did NOT decide it needed to purchase its own mercenary army.

Families of four US men killed in a notorious ambush in Iraq in 2004 have settled a long-running lawsuit with the security firm they worked for.

The four employees of Blackwater, which has since been renamed Academi, were shot, beaten and burned to death in the flash-point city of Falluja.

Two of their bodies were hung from a bridge in an act which shocked America and triggered an assault on the city.

Blackwater was accused of exposing them to high risk without proper protection.

The confidential settlement announced on Friday ended the families' efforts to secure a public investigation into the killings.

Blackwater, the American mercenary group, Relocates Headquarters to D.C.

Each Blackwater killer gets at least $100,000 per year out of about $300,000 paid by the US taxpayer to Blackwater (Xe), per mercenary. These are old figures. Inflation has probably raised it a bit. Their jobs were done by US Marines in past wars at about $20,000 to $30,000 per soldier. But soldiers have some accountability; Blackwater does not. There are many other mercenary groups in the US and around the world.

The global security company once known as Blackwater is moving its corporate headquarters from North Carolina to Arlington, Va.

Under the Blackwater name, the firm provided guards and services to the U.S. government in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere. It drew harsh criticism from members of Congress and others after a 2007 shooting in Baghdad that killed 17 people.

Three generations from now, when our great-grandchildren are sitting barefoot in their shanties and wondering how in the hell America turned from the high-point of civilization to a third-world banana republic, they will shake their fists and mutter one name: George Effin’ Bush.

Ironically, it won’t be for any of the things that liberals have been harping on the Bush Administration, either during or after his term in office. Sure, misguided tax cuts that destroyed the surplus, and lax regulations that doomed the economy, and two amazingly awful wars in deserts half a world away are all terrible, empire-sapping events.

But they pale in comparison to what it appears the Republican Party did to get President Bush re-elected in 2004.

"Pictures [of dead or dying American troops] have rarely been seen in recent years from Iraq and Afghanistan," acknowledged The New York Times in September 2009. "This was not the case during the Vietnam War."

Why is it so easy for political leaders in the US to convince ordinary citizens to support war?

How is it that, after that initial enthusiasm has given away to fatigue and disgust, the reaction is mere disinterest rather than righteous rage?

Even when the reasons given for taking the US to war were proven to have been not only wrong, but brazenly fraudulent - as in Iraq, which hadn't possessed chemical weapons since 1991 - no one is called to account.

A Berkeley County South Caroline woman will get a jury trial for a ticket she was given by police for displaying big plastic testicles on the back of her pickup truck.

Virginia Tice of Bonneau was given a $445 ticket July 5 that accuses her of violating the state's obscene bumper sticker law.

Police Chief Franco Fuda asked for a jury trial, saying questions of obscenity should be determined by community standards.

Yet, the same FBI gives 19 7th-Century Simpleton Muslims credit for carrying out one of the best orchestrated and technically difficult attacks on America: 9/11. Could it be that the FBI does not also believe that these simpletons carried out this crime?

As recently as January 2009, the FBI thought its agents ought to know the following crucial information about Muslims:

•They engage in a “circumcision ritual”
•More than 9,000 of them are in the U.S. military
•Their religion “transforms [a] country’s culture into 7th-century Arabian ways.”

The briefing presents much information that has nothing to do with crime and everything to do with constitutionally-protected religious practice and social behavior, such as estimating the number of mosques in America and listing the states with the largest Muslim populations.
