Hungary Destroys All Monsanto GMO Corn Fields

Hungary has taken a bold stand against biotech giant Monsanto and genetic modification by destroying 1000 acres of maize found to have been grown with genetically modified seeds, according to Hungary deputy state secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development Lajos Bognar.

Unlike many European Union countries, Hungary is a nation where genetically modified (GM) seeds are banned.

In a similar stance against GM ingredients, Peru has also passed a 10 year ban on GM foods.

How do internet lies get spread? By well-meaning people who pass things on without checking.

Monsanto is one of the worst companies in the world, so it should come as no surprise that they hired an arm of Xe (the mercenary company formerly known as Blackwater) to dig up dirt on anti-GMO activists.

Fortunately, and contrary to a number of reports circulation on the internet, the world’s biggest purveyor of genetically modified seeds that has been doing its best to destroy traditional farming from Iowa to Iraq did NOT decide it needed to purchase its own mercenary army.

Monsanto-spawned superweeds growing three inches daily, destroying farm equipment

~

The proliferation of superweeds -- weeds that have mutated to develop resistance to popular herbicides like Monsanto's Roundup formula -- continues to rise.

But the individual plants' overall size and strength is also increasing.

According to a series of new studies published in the journal Weed Science, farmers are having more trouble than ever dealing with out-of-control superweeds in their fields, some of which grow up to three inches a day in size, and are so strong and thick that they are destroying farm equipment.

Hungary Destroys All Monsanto GMO Corn Fields

In March, Hungary introduced a new regulation which states that seeds must be checked for GMO before they are introduced to the market. However, some GMO seeds made it to the farmers without their being aware of it.

As a result, almost 1000 acres of maize found to have been grown with genetically modified seeds have been destroyed throughout Hungary.

We’ve seen this story before – only a short two years ago in the Salinas Valley of Central California – the vegetable basket of the United States, hundreds of individuals seriously ill(and some deaths) from consuming vegetables tainted in some fashion by variations of the highly virulent e-coli bacterium.

In the end, in order to protect the sacred cow of the GMO industry, the Salinas Valley episode was conveniently blamed on cattle and wild pig droppings which were claimed to have occurred several miles from the apparent contamination area.

This is sound science

FDA claims power to seize food without evidence of contamination

~

A few hours ago, the Food and Drug Administration declared it no longer needs credible evidence to seize food that may be contaminated.

Ignoring the Fourth Amendment entirely, the FDA claims that based on mere suspicion that a food product has been contaminated or mislabeled, and that serious illness or death will result, it can hold the food for 30 days while it then looks for evidence.

It claims this power under the Food Safety Modernization Act, which President Obama signed in January.

In a response to a lawsuit filed by the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund (FTCLDF), the FDA has articulated its belief that there is no such thing as a right to health or to purchase or consume any given food.

Scientists have created genetically modified cattle that produce "human" milk in a bid to make cows' milk more nutritious.

The scientists have successfully introduced human genes into 300 dairy cows to produce milk with the same properties as human breast milk.

NY Times asks: Why aren't Genetically Modified "fake" foods labeled?

It is a question that more people should be asking, and one that even some in the mainstream media have begun to entertain: why are genetically-modified (GM) foods, which are patently (no pun intended) different from conventional and organic foods, not required to be properly labeled on food packaging?

The answer, dictated directly from the public relations departments of Monsanto and friends via the U.S. government, is that GMOs are safe and identical to natural varieties, and do not require differentiation.

But this notion is a flat out lie.
