Three generations from now, when our great-grandchildren are sitting barefoot in their shanties and wondering how in the hell America turned from the high-point of civilization to a third-world banana republic, they will shake their fists and mutter one name: George Effin’ Bush.

Ironically, it won’t be for any of the things that liberals have been harping on the Bush Administration, either during or after his term in office. Sure, misguided tax cuts that destroyed the surplus, and lax regulations that doomed the economy, and two amazingly awful wars in deserts half a world away are all terrible, empire-sapping events.

But they pale in comparison to what it appears the Republican Party did to get President Bush re-elected in 2004.

Billionaire Koch Industries, The Owners Of The Wisconsin Governor, Instructed 50,000 Employees How They Were Supposed To Vote In 2010 Elections

Writing today in the Nation, Mark Ames and Mike Elk reveal that Koch Industries mailed a letters to 50,000 employees instructing them on who to vote for in the 2010 midterm elections.

The Koch packet given to employees included candidate names, a letter from a Koch lobbyist, and a right-wing screed from the company and the Washington Examiner, an outlet owned by Phil Anschutz, a billionaire who is close to the Koch family. (View a copy of the packet here.)

Wisconsin Wingnut-Justice Ahead After 14,000 Votes Magically Appear

Good morning, unemployed hobos.

Here is your news: 14,000 votes just sort of “turned up” (just like they always do, when you need them the most) yesterday in Wisconsin, giving Koch-backed David Prosser a 7,000 vote lead over bolshie People’s candidate JoAnne Kloppenburg.
(Kloppenburg said that she won the Supreme Court race on Wednesday, but she is mistaken.)

Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus — a Republican activist and former president of “Republican Women of Waukesha County” — discovered the tabulation error, after she “inadvertently failed to properly import and save data into a Microsoft Access database.

” If you think this sounds like possible vote tabulation fraud, think again! (Or save yourself the trouble and don’t think anything ever again!)

Because Kathy Nickolaus is a diligent public servant who “keeps election results on her personal PC in her office, and only on her personal PC.”

Sounds pretty legit. Anyway, hope you communists had fun “winning” for a day (isn’t that Barrack Obama’s new motto?). Hooray, more of the Invisible Hand Koch at work!
