• There is no restriction on people taking photographs in public places or any building other than in very exceptional circumstances

• There is no prohibition on photographing frontline uniform staff

• The act of taking a photograph in itself is not usually sufficeint to carry out a stop

• Unless there is a very good reason, people taking photographs should not be stopped

• Officers do not have the power to delete digital images, destroy film or to prevent photography in a public place under either power (sections 43 and 44 of the Terrorism Act 2000)

Tables Turned: Bank Of America Pays Couple’s Legal Fees After Deputies Threaten To Foreclosure Bank And Take Assets

In Collier County, Florida, a pair of sheriff’s deputies turned the tables on the mega-bank.

A Bank of America branch there had improperly been involved in a foreclosure lawsuit against a local couple, yet the bank was refusing to pay the couple’s legal fees when it was found to be in the wrong.

So two sherrif’s deputies showed up at a Bank of America branch.

The deputies offered Bank of America a choice: Either the mega-bank pay the couple’s $2,534 legal fees, or they would foreclose on the branch and and seize all of its assets.

Bank of America decided to pay.

Haiti was negotiating an oil and development deal with Venezuela and Cuba between 2006-2007.

Haiti would join the Venezuelan-led oil alliance known as PetroCaribe and it would purchase oil “only 60 percent up front with the remainder payable over twenty-five years at 1 percent interest” — a remarkably good deal for the Western hemisphere’s poorest country.

The U.S. embassy at the time noted that Haiti would save a hundred million U.S. dollars a year under the terms of the PetroCaribe deal; the saved dollars would then be earmarked for development in schools, health care, and infrastructure.

Yet, under the charge of ambassador Janet Sanderson, the embassy immediately set out to sabotage the deal.

A group of six westerners, probably British, are clearly visible at end of above report by al-Jazeera. Five of them were armed and wearing sand-coloured clothes, peaked caps, and cotton Arab scarves. The sixth, apparently the most senior of the group, was carrying no visible weapon and wore a pink, short-sleeve shirt.

Armed westerners have been filmed on the front line with rebels near Misrata in the first apparent confirmation that foreign special forces are playing an active role in the Libyan conflict.
