The Vatican has slammed billion-dollar blockbuster Avatar as "technology without emotion" in a scathing attack.
The Vatican's official newspaper said about the 3D Sci-Fi blockbuster: "In the end it is just reduced to an anti imperialistic, anti militaristic parable which doesn't have the same cutting bite as other more committed films on the same theme."
So I guess the new preachings from the Pope is that Jesus Christ was a “militaristic and imperialist” and it’s why they are opposed to this movie?
Well, the Vatican has always supported or not opposed military dictatorships throughout the world. In fact the current possible sainthood of Pope Pius XII brings this into focus.
Last month, Pope Benedict XVI issued a decree proclaiming the “heroic virtues” of the 20th century’s most controversial pope.
Prior to World War II, the cardinal who later became Pope Pius XII successfully negotiated the Reich Concordat with Adolf Hitler in 1933, which effectively removed all political opposition to the growing Nazi movement in Germany.
During the war, Pius turned a blind eye to Hitler’s barbarous campaign to exterminate Jews.
In October 1943, Hitler’s SS troops entered Rome’s old ghetto and rounded up more than a thousand Italian Jews to be transported to death camps.
Before their deportation, they were held captive for two days in a building located less than a half mile from the Vatican.
Pope Pius was one of the first to be made aware of the Jewish arrests. Yet he did nothing to prevent those Jews from boarding cattle cars bound for Auschwitz.
See Was Pope Pius XII Pious?

Chimp you failed to mention that the Vatican also helped secure the escape of dozens of Nazi War Criminals to South America with false passports and in some cases, outright physical assistance, after the war.
Anyone who thinks this bunch is lead by pious individuals, is a fool indeed.
Thanks for that insight, Jaded. The Catholic Church is much more than thousands of priests attacking the children under their care.
"'Its wonderful how you can turn words,' as Polonius said in Hamlet." They said its a tired theme which has been done before, except better, not that Anti-Imperial and Anti-Militaristic themes are wrong. The part of the sentence after that in which you bolded shows the true meaning of the sentece.
