The U.S. Marine Corps public affairs director is slamming the hit movie "Avatar," saying that it takes shots at military culture and contains over-the-top stereotyping of Marines.
In a letter published today by the Marine Corps Times, Col. Bryan Salas wrote that the hit movie, which has grossed more than $1 billion worldwide "does a disservice" to the Corps.
In the movie, a Marine veteran agrees to travel to the distant, resource-rich planet Pandora where he works with the military and private mercenaries to displace a humanoid race called the Na’vi so that their land can be mined for precious minerals.

“How dare they equate our murdering the Iraqis to steal their oil to the same as invading another planet to steal their minerals. We kill men, women and children in Iraq and Afghanistan to give them freedom. We’ve given freedom to over a million of them.” - Official Sextagon Military Souse
