UN special rapporteur, Leandro Despouy, says that former US defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld could soon 'face difficulties' for his role in prisoner abuse.
Speaking in Geneva, Switzerland, the UN expert on the independence of judges and lawyers placed Rumsfeld among a number of other senior US officials, under former President George W. Bush, who were involved in sanctioning torture against the 'terror suspects' held in US custody at the Naval detention center in Cuba's Guantanamo Bay.
Referring to Rumsfeld's assumed links to the administration of extreme questioning tactics to the indefinitely-detained inmates, Despouy said, "In a year or two, his responsibilities will be established. Wherever he goes, he will face difficulties."
