In face of the growing missile threat against Israel, the IDF Home Front Command and the US National Guard have decided to exchange liaisons to enable a steady exchange of information on civil defense, The Jerusalem Post has learned.
The decision to send a liaison to the US from the Home Front Command was approved by the General Staff and OC Home Front Command Maj.-Gen. Yair Golan several weeks ago.
The officer, who will hold the rank of lieutenant-colonel, will be stationed in Washington and serve as a permanent liaison to the National Guard, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the US Northern Command (NORTHCOM), the military command responsible for protecting the American homeland and supporting local, state and federal.
WRH's Commentary:
Forgive me, but the thought of a permanent Israeli Liaison Officer to the US National Guard, FEMA, and NORTHCOM concerns me greatly.
And that statement "...if needed will deploy with the National Guard to emergency situations."
One has to wonder as to which "emergency situations" this liaison will be deployed.
