When Reagan and the two Bushes spent our money, why no protests?

~

When did those Washington, D.C., protesters get all upset about our national debt?

Was it when Ronald Reagan tripled it? Or when George H.W. Bush had the biggest deficits in history? Or when George W. Bush reversed Bill Clinton's budget surpluses and added more debt than every previous president?

Did they scream socialism and paint little Hitler mustaches on the president's picture when George W. rammed through his Medicare prescription-drug benefit with no way to pay for it?

Did they lionize a South Carolina congressman for interrupting a presidential address at the mention of illegal immigrants?

No. They don't really care about budget deficits (tax cuts make them worse) or inflation (no signs of it) or even government-run health care (they love Medicare and veterans health).

It was not until we elected our first Black president that the sons of the Confederacy erupted.

just noticed the aspartame thingie- that is so true. there is a california study just out today i guess- linking soda to obesity. here's the thing- if folks simply ate real food it wouldn't matter if they had some sugar and whatnot. there is nothing good in soda- or fake foods or genetically modified- or cloned or whatever.

Love the photo. Says it all. I recall a Kliban cartoon from way back. It is entitled, business on parade. It has a long line of guys in business suits, each on hands and knees, sticking his nose in the ass of the person in front of him. Change the clothes to street clothes, and change the caption to Teabaggers on Parade...works for me.
