Former US chief prosecutor calls for prosecution of Bush officials for torture

Ten years on from its creation, calls are mounting from legal and human rights experts for closure of the 'torture' center on Cuba.

The former chief prosecutor for the US government at Guantánamo Bay has accused the administration he served of operating a "law-free zone" there, on the eve of the 10th anniversary of the order to establish the detention camp on Cuba.

Today marks the 10th anniversary of former President George W. Bush signing into law his 2001 tax cuts (he passed a second round in 2003). While doing so, Bush promised prosperity and growth, but the nation got neither.

The cost of these budget-busting 2001 and 2003 tax cuts was, as estimated by Citizens for Tax Justice, roughly $2.5 trillion through 2010.

Texas Holds ‘Don’t Touch My Junk’ Rally Against TSA Threat To Shut Down Texas Airports

Dozens gathered at the Capitol in Austin on Saturday demanding a stop to TSA officers “touching their junk” at the airport.

Rally attendees are hoping to call attention to a recently proposed Texas bill that would limit TSA searches and enforce criminal charges for TSA officers if they touch someone inappropriately.

The U.S. Attorney’s office was furious with the bill, threatening to cancel flights in Texas if the bill passed, arguing that TSA agents would not be able to do their jobs properly.

The Texas Senate heeded this warning and caved in by voting against the bill.

Sarah Palin supporters are literally attempting to rewrite history after she flubbed the story of Paul Revere's ride last week, taking to Wikipedia with their own revisions to the beloved story in an effort to make Palin's version look true.

"He who warned the British that they weren't going to be taking away our arms uh by ringing those bells and making sure as he's riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be secure and we were going to be free and we were going to be armed," Palin explained to reporters in Boston, Massachusetts Thursday.

But Wikipedia didn't back up Palin's suggestion that Revere's mission was to warn the British or that he rang bells in the process so her fans tried to update the page.

Miami Beach police did their best to destroy a citizen video that shows them shooting a man to death in a hail of bullets Memorial Day.

First, police pointed their guns at the man who shot the video, according to a Miami Herald interview with the videographer.

Then they ordered the man and his girlfriend out the car and threw them down to the ground, yelling “you want to be fucking paparazzi?”

Then they snatched the cell phone from his hand and slammed it to the ground before stomping on it.

Then they placed the smashed phone in the videographer's back pocket as he was laying down on the ground.

And finally, they took him to a mobile command center where they snapped his photo and demanded the phone again, then took him to police headquarters where they conducted a recorded interview with him before releasing him.
