Obama's Is Actually the Fourth Anti-Bush Nobel Peace Prize

~

"...that Obama won the Noble prize because of me. I shoulda gotten it, because of me."

The Nobel Peace Prize was a nice consolation for President Obama not getting the Olympics for his adopted hometown, but that doesn't explain the decision by the Norwegian inscrutables – they apparently voted before the I.O.C. chose Rio over Chicago for the 2016 Olympic Games.

One plausible motivation is that the Europeans really, really wanted to vote for Obama in the 2008 election, but, well, they can't vote in U.S.
elections. But they could certainly vote against George W. Bush.

So the Nobel committee was telling us how they felt about our guy, as if we didn't know already. Or, perhaps it was a preemptive strike: If they give it to Obama, they don't have to give it to Bill Clinton, who has been openly coveting the peace prize for the better part of two decades.

The real reason, of course, was no mystery:

European liberals just can't tell us enough times how dumb they think we were for sending Bush to the White House. (Twice!) Nor is this the first anti-Bush, anti-Republican Party Nobel.

By my count, it's the fourth.

The first was Jimmy Carter.

They gave it to Carter, by their own admission, because of his consistently churlish, partisan and un-presidential sniping at Bush over the looming U.S. invasion of Iraq.

In 2007, Al Gore shared a peace prize for his work on global warming.

Here was yet another area in which the elites in the "world community" found Bush wanting. After all, wasn't Gore the guy Bush stole the election from?

A year later, Paul Krugman won a Nobel Prize in economics.

Krugman's real claim to fame was the relentlessly anti-Bush invective he dispensed weekly during the Bush era in his New York Times column.

The statement issued by the Norwegian Nobel Committee on Friday consisted of four little paragraphs of code words that continue to kick Bush in the leg.

One parlor game was whimsically naming various other Bush antagonists – Arianna Huffington, the Dixie Chicks, the Iraqi television journalist who threw his shoes at Obama – as possible future Nobel laureates.

White House: Fox News 'a wing of the Republican Party'

~

It's war.

The Obama administration declared Fox News - and its owner, reporters and commentators - shills for the President's Republican opponents Sunday.

"Let's not pretend they're a news network," White House communications director Anita Dunn said on CNN's "Reliable Sources," firing the latest salvo in the long-simmering feud.

"Fox News often operates almost as either the research arm or the communications arm of the Republican Party," Dunn said.

"What I think is fair to say about Fox, and certainly the way we view it, is that it really is more a wing of the Republican Party," she added.

White House officials have made no secret that they were incensed the network's coverage of the presidential race, and the bad karma has carried over.

President Obama last month dissed Rupert Murdoch's network by giving Sunday interviews to every TV network and cable outlet except Fox.

Sarah Palin Out to Destroy Levi Johnston in Her New Book “Going Rogue”

~

Cover of Sarah's new Book?

Sarah Palin is on a personal mission to make mince meat of little Levi Johnston.

According to inside sources, a great deal of her new book “Going Rogue: An American Life,” is dedicated to discrediting his post-election revelations by claiming he’s a twerpy opportunist, just looking to make a buck off of the Palin brand name.

Levi was unavailable for comment as he is currently holed up at his local gymnasium working out furiously for his upcoming photo spread for Playgirl Magazine.

I suppose when the time comes, he’ll let his penis do his talking for him.

As to what will make up the remaining content of Sarah’s tome, various rumors have been buzzing about the internets.

Some say there will be a large coloring book section, where artistic conservatives can channel their inner Pablo Picassos.

Others swear that it’ll be chock full of tasty recipes including Palin family favourites like braised wolf heart and bear balls teriyaki.

Still more believe it will simply be a fun pop-up book!

Whatever it actually turns out to be, I just hope they have an audio version up and ready to go, as it’s pretty obvious a large percentage of Palin supporters have “limited” reading skills.

Obama to end restrictions on gays in military

~

President Barack Obama, speaking on the eve of a major gay-rights march, told gay supporters on Saturday he would fight for their causes and renewed a pledge to end restrictions on their service in the US military.

To a standing ovation at a dinner held by the Human Rights Campaign, a gay advocacy group, Obama said he would ”end ’don’t ask, don’t tell,’ That’s my commitment to you.”

Barack Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize for NOT being President George W. Bush

~

"How come I didn't get one of those there noble prizes?"

Can you imaging what it must be like to win the Nobel Peace Prize?

Former US President Jimmy Carter and former US Vice President Al Gore know what it is like to have one of these babies at home on a shelf to dust off.

Now, the Nobel Prizes committee has decided to give current United States President Barack Hussein Obama the honor of winning the world's most coveted humanitarian award.

Americans, however, are up in arms this week as they are really wondering, "What for?"

But, the world in general, was happy with the news.

*************************

The Nobel committee pretty much said that Obama got it FOR NOT BEING GEORGE W. BUSH. The world was so screwed and tired after 8 years of the American tyrant, that they spelled "r-e-l-I-e-f" by giving this prize to Obama.

Sarah Palin a No-Show in Virginia. Too Busy Making Lots Of Money

~

Sarah's Christmas Card Order

After the election last year, Republican Bob McDonnell expected former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin to campaign with him.

In the summer, even after Palin's stunning announcement that she was resigning as governor of Alaska, McDonnell said he would welcome her to Virginia.

This week, McDonnell made it clear that would not happen.

"There was a time earlier on when she was governor when I thought she would come here,'' McDonnell said after a candidates' forum in Loudoun County earlier this week.

"But I think she seems to be busy with books and other things like that. We've still got about 20 different events scheduled down the road and she's not in one of them."

But Palin adviser Meg Stapleton told Politico that her boss offered to help McDonnell. Calls and e-mails to Palin's political action committee were not returned. Her PAC donated $2,500 to McDonnell this summer.

Palin's visits to the state drew enormous, enthusiastic crowds of Republicans last year, but Democrats would have a field day with Palin's arrival if she did come here.

Stephen King Says: Torture is Horror.

~

Clicvk on above to enlarge

In a new Amnesty International advertisement that will apparently start running tomorrow, horror writer Stephen King has published an open letter to President Obama asking him to rethink his position on investigating Bush Administration torture:

“I understand your reluctance to support an independent commission to investigate acts of torture committed by U.S. interrogators during the years since 9/11/01; there is a powerful urge to let indecent acts stay buried, lest they further besmirch our already tattered reputation in the court of world opinion.

We did things in the heat of our outrage that must not be repeated. We allowed frightened leaders to commit acts that will come back to haunt us if they are not examined. Until this boil of secrecy is lanced, the infection will remain. “

Sweatshop Conditions in US Cities

~

A new low-wage industry study by the Center for Urban Economic Development, the National Employment Law Project, and the UCLA Institute for Research on Labor and Employment exposes the dark side of workforce exploitation in America's three largest cities - New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.

From January through August 2008, researchers conducted 90-minute interviews with 4,387 "front-line" workers, aged 18 or older, using "innovative, rigorous methodology" to reach vulnerable people "often missed in standard surveys, such as (undocumented) immigrants and those paid in cash."

The goal was to be as statistically representative of workplace violations as possible for a population of about 1.64 million workers, or 15% of the total workforce studied.

The report documented flagrant workplace violations, core protections most Americans take for granted, including a guaranteed minimum wage, overtime pay, regular meal and other breaks, worker compensation for on-the-job injuries, and the right to bargain collectively for better wages, benefits, and working conditions.

Five Myths on Afghanistan

~

President Barack Obama is entering a crucial decision-making phase on Afghanistan at a time when geopolitical mythology is dominating the debate, the Pentagon is requesting additional forces in Afghanistan.

The military bureaucracy is particularly vulnerable to such mythology.

The military has accepted five major myths with respect to Afghanistan.

Myth #1: Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal, who commands more than 100,000 US and international forces, has endorsed a counterinsurgency strategy that views the Taliban as a collection of armed groups with different political and economic objectives.

Myth #2: A Taliban presence would lead to a renewed sanctuary for al-Qaeda and, once again, the United States would be vulnerable to a terrorist attack.

Myth #3: Any loss in Afghanistan would have a domino effect in the region that would affect Pakistan, India and Iran, with the United States and NATO suffering a significant loss of credibility.

Myth #4: As part of its counterinsurgency strategy, the United States must invest billions of dollars to create more capable, accountable and effective governments in Afghanistan and Pakistan. US nation building will enhance civilian control and stabilize constitutional government in both countries.

Myth #5: The Pakistani army would give up its fight against the Taliban if the United States reduced its own military efforts in Afghanistan.

Cheney & Co.: All Quiet on the Counterterror Front?

~

Conservatives huff that Obama is weak on national security, but say nothing about the gains in the fight against al Qaeda.

On Tuesday, President Barack Obama visited the National Counterterrorism Center outside Washington and declared that "because of our efforts" al Qaeda and its allies have "lost operational capacity."

He cited recent arrests of terrorist suspects in Colorado, New York, Illinois, and Texas, asserting that these actions have made the nation safer. Afterward, his critics responded with...silence.

Since Obama was sworn in, conservative hawks, led by former Vice President Dick Cheney, have been pounding the president for being weak on national security, accusing him of leaving the country vulnerable to another catastrophic attack.

But this chorus of scaremongers tends to go mute when the Obama administration scores apparent counterterrorism successes.

Cheney, for instance, hasn't said anything publicly about the arrest last month of Najibullah Zazi, the Denver airport shuttle driver, and others accused of planning an al Qaeda bombing operation.

Nor have Cheney and his amen corner acknowledged other gains in the fight against al Qaeda. Instead, it's been a fussillade of potshots. Let's roll the tape.

President Barack Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize

President Barack Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday in a stunning decision designed to encourage his nascent initiatives to reduce nuclear arms, ease tensions with the Muslim world and replace unilateral American action with international diplomacy and cooperation.

Nobel observers were shocked by the unexpected choice so early in the Obama presidency, which began less than two weeks before the Feb. 1 nomination deadline.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said Obama woke up to the news a little before 6 a.m. EDT. The White House had no immediate comment on the announcement, which took the administration by surprise.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee lauded the change in global mood wrought by Obama's calls for peace and cooperation but recognized initiatives that have yet to bear fruit: reducing the world stock of nuclear arms, easing American conflicts with Muslim nations and strengthening the U.S. role in combating climate change.

****************************

When I first read this headline, I thought it was a spoof and checked the source of the news. Seemed real. Checked other news papers on the net and they all had the same news.

I asked myself, why? The explanation the Nobel Committee gave, makes lots of sense. Almost anyone coming into the US presidency after someone so evil and warmongering as George W. Bush would have probably won this prize.

Happy 8th Birthday Afghanistan War!

~

The fighting in Afghanistan marked its eighth anniversary Wednesday.

On Oct. 7, 2001, U.S.-led forces invaded Afghanistan to dislodge the ruling Taliban.

The underlying cause of the military action was to punish the Taliban for providing haven to al-Qaida leaders, including Osama bin Laden, who supposedly ordered the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the United States.

U.S. President Barack Obama met with congressional leaders Tuesday to discuss strategy for the next phase of the war. Some Democrats say the United States should consider cutting back troop deployment, a move Obama says he's against.

It is believed military commanders are requesting an additional 40,000 troops to augment the 68,000 the administration has committed to the fighting.

What Bush Wrought

~

Gail Collins: Speaking of jerks, I’m afraid I’ve got to depart on a negative note because I need to register a long wail of pain and rage. It’s about George W. Bush.

I know we’re supposed to move on, and honest, I’ve tried to let it go. I have never once — well, until this very moment — dwelt on the fact that all our problems in Afghanistan might have been far less problematic if the last president hadn’t turned his attention away from the good fight to wage the dumb fight down the street.

Our problems in Afghanistan might have been less problematic if the last president hadn’t turned his attention to Iraq.

And during all this health care slog, I haven’t pointed out that this would be way, way easier if He Who Must Not Be Named hadn’t screwed everything up with those stupid tax cuts. O.K., I may have mentioned it once in a while.

But not nearly as often as I thought it.

Airline asks passengers to pee before boarding

~

The airline believes that empty bladders will equal lighter passengers, which will mean lighter aircraft and therefore a reduction in fuel use, Japan’s NHK television reports.

All Nippon Airways began the strange policy on October 1 as an experiment, which will last one month.

However, it may expand the trial if it’s successful and well-received by passengers.

It hopes to achieve a five-ton reduction in carbon emissions over the month.

This is really nonsense.

The most this could possibly result in is less than a couple hundred pounds or so of weight, not enough to make much of an impact on the efficiency of an airliner.

If it were simply for the sake of efficiency and cost savings, then whatever…. however, notice that “carbon emissions” crap in this article. Is anyone else getting absolutely sick of all this carbon emission nonsense?

These snot-nosed idiots who come up with the numbers of our individual and collective carbon emissions have us emitting carbon that weighs as much as the entire earth itself! Don’t believe me? Check it out yourself sometime. Carbon Dioxide is not a pollutant. It is a necessary, vital ingredient to our atmosphere, and without it, there would be no plant life on the planet.

On another note, why isn’t there more discussion of charging airline passengers by the pound? Then all this talk of limiting checked baggage, etc., simply goes away.

Also the issue of a hugely obese person paying the same for essentially two seats as a skinny waif or young person. It isn’t right. The costs are actually determined by weight, why not the price of a ticket?

Americans, Be Afraid. You Are All Terrorists, According To Homeland Security

~

A new video produced in association with the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI and narrated by former Denver Broncos quarterback John Elway urges people to report suspicious activity that could constitute terrorism, behavior that includes buying gold, owning guns, using a watch or binoculars, donating to charity, and all manner of mundane things.

*******************************

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is a desperate attempt to force individual Americans back into total psychological isolation, to bring us back to dependency on the government, instead of uniting together as one American people to deal with the real threat to our lives, which is the government itself.

Seriously, how many of you have actually seen a terrorist (not counting the fakes on TV used to justify the wars).

But government gets in our face and ruins our lives every single day.

So what is the greater threat?

Of the American deaths, more than 600 have died in hostile action.

Some reports have put the number of U.S. deaths at 800, it should be noted that reported number is by four higher than the DoD's tally which is 796.

As of October 5, 2009, 4,139 American soldiers have been wounded in action in Afghanistan, with 2,500 not returning to duty.

10-YEAR WAR IN AFGHANISTAN CONFOUNDED THE SOVIET UNION

~

Six years into its decade-long war in Afghanistan, with thousands of soldiers in their graves, the Soviet Union was still confounded by the traditions and terrain of the hardscrabble nation.

In recently translated documents, former President Mikhail Gorbachev admits:

''If we go on in the same way, we'll have to fight for another 20-30 years! They'll soon be calling it the weird war. In six years, we haven't learned how to fight there.''

The Soviet War in Afghanistan, also known as the Soviet–Afghan War, was a nine-year conflict involving the Soviet Union, supporting the Marxist government of the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan at their own request, against the Islamist Mujahideen Resistance.

The Afghan government was also supported by India, while the mujahideen found other support from a variety of sources including the United States, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and other Muslim nations through the context of the Cold War and the regional India-Pakistan conflict.

The initial Soviet deployment of the 40th Army in Afghanistan began on December 24, 1979 under the leadership of Soviet President Leonid Brezhnev.

The final troop withdrawal started on May 15, 1988, and ended on February 15, 1989 under the last Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev.

Due to the interminable nature of the war, the conflict in Afghanistan has often been referred to as the Soviets' Vietnam; in relation to the Vietnam War.

Duty to Warn: Diet Coke is Poison

~

Now I have read the book Excitotoxins: The Taste that Kills, written by Russell Blaylock, MD (http://www.russellblaylockmd.com), one of the neuroscientists who has thoroughly studied the toxicities of the common food additives aspartame and monosodium glutamate (MSG).

I have also seen the sobering video documentary about aspartame poisoning entitled: Sweet Misery: A Poisoned World, which proves without any doubt how dangerous this synthetic sweetener can be.

Aspartame, which is in thousands of processed food products that are usually labeled "lite" or "diet" products, was synthesized in 1965 by a G. D. Searle chemist who, when he was trying to create an anti-ulcer drug, combined two amino acids, aspartic acid and phenylalanine and found that the resulting dipeptide (a molecule consisting of two amino acids) had an intensely sweet taste to the tongue.

Searle soon saw aspartame as a product that could compete in the low calorie food industry and obtained, in 1974, FDA approval for its use in dry foods.

However the FDA approval was rescinded within 6 months because of toxic reactions and widespread concerns by a number of scientists.

These scientists knew that aspartame was a lethal poison! In fact, in a 1996 report compiled from 10,000 consumer complaints obtained during the pre-marketing testing period, the FDA listed 92 aspartame-related symptoms, ranging from seizures to death!

Still, the tenacious Searle, led by its cunning management team, refused to give up its effort to obtain FDA approval and denied that they had a sweet poison on their hands.

Interestingly, Searle's CEO at the time was Donald Rumsfeld (which is why some prefer to call Aspartame Disease Rumsfeld's Disease).

Talking About Walmart And “Death Panels”

~

Your employer owns you

By Chimpplanet

Sarah Palin got it partially right when she feared “death panels”. The part she didn’t explain is that death panels already exist and they are in the boardrooms of major blue chip American companies, like Walmart.

Unbeknown to the employees, many large companies take out “dead peasant” life insurance policies on them naming the company as the beneficiary. These policies continue active even after the employee leaves.

Two points come to mind here. One is that for the company to collect, they must keep track of their ex-employees for the rest of their lives so they can know when he/she dies so they can collect.

Second, if a worker moves around a lot, it’s possible that many companies may hold peasant insurance on this one worker and then the multiple payouts may be in the tens of millions of dollars. Wonder what’s the most any employee ever made for his employers.

The companies collect tens of thousands and even millions of dollars when the employees (current or past) die.

They often use this tax-free money to pay bonuses to their executives.

The “death panels” are the actuaries in each company who project how many employees will die in a given year so they can guess on how much gravy payouts the company will get.

The company directors get very upset if there is a short-fall on deaths and they celebrate when they exceeds death expectations.

You are worth more to your employer dead than alive.

********************

WEHAT IS "DEAD PEASANT" INSURANCE?

********************

WHAT WOULD STOP THESE COMPANIES FROM HIRING ASSASSINS FOR A FEW THOUSAND DOLLARS TO MAKE MILLIONS? HAVE THEY DONE IT ALREADY?

THAT'S WHY THE LAW DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO TAKE OUT LIFE INSURANCE ON YOUR FRIENDS. WONDER IF THAT LAST ACCIDENTAL DEATH I READ ABOUT WAS REALLY AN "ACCIDENT".
