Obama didn't push for Benghazi rescue because he feared failure

"Nothing to see or read here.  Keep on moving.  Everything is alright.  Who's Ben Ghazi, anyways?"

I believe the Obama administration decided not to provide aid last fall before Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others were killed in a terrorist attack at Benghazi, Libya, for the following reasons:

In the run-up to the 2012 election, President Barack Obama reflected on Jimmy Carter’s failed rescue attempt of embassy personnel in Iran and how it helped Ronald Reagan get elected in 1980.

Obama also, no doubt, recalled George W. Bush’s premature “Mission Accomplished” banner about Iraq and the subsequent political grief that he suffered.

State Department official who pushed to change Benghazi storyline up for promotion

The State Department official who played a key role in massaging the Obama administration's storyline on the Benghazi attack has been put up for a promotion -- a move that could trigger a heated confirmation battle on the Hill.

Victoria Nuland was nominated Thursday by President Obama for the position of assistant secretary for European and Eurasian affairs at the State Department.
