Israel's offensive takes toll on Gaza children (VIDEO)

The terrifying roaring sound of Israel's F16 war planes flying daily over Gaza often followed by deafening explosions has taken a toll on Palestinian children in the besieged enclave.

Officials said the number of Palestinians killed in Gaza during Israel's on-going offensive reached 100 on Monday, including 24 children and 10 women.

Taha, an eight-year-old boy, came to the hospital to get treatment and the safety he needed, believing that the hospital was the only safe place in Gaza.

"I stayed awake all night long because the sound of the bombardment scared me," he said.

Parents have been struggling to support their children under the harsh conditions where they cannot even protect themselves.

"When the bombardment started, I tried to get my kids away from the sound by allowing them to play, but they still got so scared. I have always failed to calm them down because the sound of warplanes shelling gets louder," said a mother at the hospital.

There are no shelters in Gaza, and that has placed civilians in danger of becoming casualties. Children in particular were vulnerable, feeling high anxiety with the ongoing Israeli bombardment.

"Most of children cases that have come to the hospital are frightened due to the sound of the bombardment, where they have some indications like peeing on themselves, pain in the stomach and the throwing up. We deal with those cases by taking the children away (from) the risk and try to calm them," said a doctor at the hospital.

It has become obvious that Hamas' refusal to make a truce and Israel's refusal to end it's military operations in Gaza is escalating the aggression for more days, leaving more victims and more devastation.
