1 in 5 DC Residents Below Poverty Line (VIDEO)

BTS producer Ameera David reports from Anacostia, the backyard of the nation's capital. It's a part of Washington D.C. seldom seen by the public eye, and it sheds a light on many communities in DC which are experiencing the highest rate of poverty in 30 years. But ironically, these also happen to be the communities overlooked by the lawmakers who are just steps away. This is "taxation without representation" at its finest.

Nah..." 1 in 5 " are in poverty because they prefer their welfare income,
and foodstamps and sitting around playing video games, to getting out and actually working.
There Are Jobs to be found ! If MY body would LET me work, at age 69,
I'd certainly love to be working, and I just bet I would land a job.

It's still sad that one of the poorest areas in the country is at the doorstep to the White House. So much wealth and so much poverty, all in just an area in size of 8 miles by 8 miles.
