Only $50,000!
On Friday, Donald Rumsfeld was back at the Pentagon for the unveiling of his official portrait in a ceremony hosted by Defense Secretary Robert Gates.
The painting “shows Rumsfeld at his stand-up desk with a picture of first-responders and soldiers unfurling the flag over the still-burning Pentagon on Sept. 12, 2001.”
It will hang in the Pentagon along with his other portrait, commemorating when he served as defense secretary from 1975 to 1977.
As the Washington Post reported in 2008, this new portrait of Rumsfeld cost nearly $50,000.

"Sorry kids, you have to find your food in a dumpster because we needed to spend $50,000 of your food money to have a painting made of Hitler, err, I mean Rumsfeld."

Hold it. As an artist with degrees in painting, and as an ex-museum curator, I want to know who the hell this artist is. There is nothing $50,000 special about that painting. In fact, it is, if anything...pedestrian. Seriously, as you know...this is a major con of the government. INFUCKINGFURIATING!
It is time we started tar and feathering government officials who make these kinds of wasteful decisions. Where the hell are all of the indignant tea bag shits over this?
Could t be there's gold leaf in that frame??? Also, they gave the job out in 2008, that's only $25,000 per year! The day before 9/11 Rumsfeld announced that the Pentagon could not account for $2 billion - so what's a measly $50K to them?
Now he is claiming HE paid for it with his own funds. What idiot would shell out 50 grand for a portrait when the idiot already has one hanging in the hallowed halls. In other words, there are TWO portraits of the war criminal in a public building which belongs to the people.
I am sure the skunk figured out a way to cover his output with public funds. Hell, the profit he made off of the Iraqi "War", more than covered it. Shithead!
