The area south of New Orleans has been plagued by flooding since Isaac sloshed ashore as a hurricane on Tuesday evening and pushed water over the 18-mile levee. Aerial video footage shows dozens of homes surrounded by water up their rafters.
The flood also unearthed caskets and uprooted trees at a local cemetery. The storm Isaac has been downgraded to a tropical depression, and the extent of the damage is becoming clearer. Crews set out in air boats in LaPlace and saw heavy mud and dirty water caking homes, street signs and trailers.
They worked to save cows and other livestock from the debris. Evacuees from that town continue to be ferried by buses to various shelters. Many of them lost everything they owned except what they were able to carrying with them in the minutes before evacuating.

The case recalls the 1990s disputes over Russia's natural resources. Judge Elizabeth Gloster ruled that Russian businessman Roman Abramovich, the billionaire owner of the Chelsea Football Club, will not pay the huge sum to the self-exiled Russian tycoon Boris Berezovsky.

BREAKING! LOUISIANA Coast Under Curfew As Issac Makes Landfall (VIDEO)
Despite the fact Isaac is a category one hurricane and New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu said the city had "dodged a bullet," the Army National Guard has dispatched thousands of troops in Louisiana.
Gov. Bobby Jindal's office said Tuesday it has asked the Defense Department to pay for up to 8,000 troops for 180 days. Moreover, the National Guard Bureau indicated another 35,000 troops and almost 100 aircraft are available for mobilization to Gulf Coast states, according to Paul Purpura of The Times-Picayune.
Jindal told the Wall Street Journal "Katrina-style flooding" wasn't expected.
As has now become routine in federal responses to natural disasters, the demarcation between military and local law enforcement has all but disappeared. The Times-Picayune reports that soldiers are now assisting New Orleans cops with law enforcement duties in direct violation of Posse Comitatus, an 1878 law that prohibits troops from working with police.
The newspaper reports that police officers searched the house of a burglary suspect accompanied by "a soldier who carried an M-4 assault rifle, as other armed soldiers stood nearby on St. Claude Avenue beside their Humvees."
Posse Comitatus came under intense scrutiny following Hurricane Katrina. The 16th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Peter Pace, called for the law to be scuttled and said it slowed down to deployment of troops in Louisiana. Sen. John Warner, a Virginia Republican and at the time chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, questioned Posse Comitatus restrictions following the September 11, 2001 attacks.
TSA felt that Ron Paul could use his airplane to attack Romney?
On departing the RNC in Tampa yesterday, Ron Paul, his wife and grand-daughter were subjected to harassment by the TSA at a small airport in Clearwater, Florida.
Eight TSA goons told the Paul entourage they would need to be screened before they would be allowed to leave because Mitt Romney might be nearby.
The insinuation was obvious — Paul and his family pose a threat to the GOP presidential candidate.
After a protracted examination of Ron Paul's credentials, the agents demanded they be allowed to check the airplane for explosives.
The incident ended after Ron Paul's wife, Carol, who has a pacemaker, refused to be screened by the TSA and an aide started taking video.
The disgraceful incident serves as a vicious parting shot by the establishment. The GOP has consistently sabotaged Paul's campaign and the corporate media has either ignored the candidate or portrayed him as a radical that had absolutely no chance of winning the nomination despite his huge and unprecedented following and popularity with the American people.
Newly downgraded Tropical Storm Isaac plodded its way across Louisiana on Wednesday, inundating parts of a mostly rural area southeast of New Orleans. In hard-hit Plaquemines Parish, officials rescued dozens of people by boat after they became stranded by floodwaters.
Journalists Intimidated For Exposing TSA Violating 4th Amendment (VIDEO)
Independent Journalists documenting the level of security theatre surrounding the Republican National Convention in Tampa were threatened with being "detained for 72 hours" by Homeland Security agents, after they filmed TSA employees occupying a Greyhound bus station close to the security perimeter.
The reporters with the Houston Free Thinkers captured video of no less than five blue shirted TSA workers manning the ticket office at the station, ready to conduct bag searches and pat downs on bus passengers.
The station, at 610 Polk Street in downtown Tampa, was adorned with TSA and Homeland Security notices, designating it a high security screening area.
After filming the TSA workers inside, the reporters turned their attention to a parked Homeland Security vehicle across the street, claiming that the agent that sat in the car was taking photographs of them.
Upon crossing the street to ask the agent why he was taking pictures, two more DHS vehicles pulled up and agents jumped out and immediately confronted the reporters, asking them for ID.
When the reporters refused to provide ID and asked why they were being detained, one DHS agent stated "You are filming a federal compound... that in itself is against the law."

Not a moment too soon, "The Atomic Cafe" is back to provide us with a much-needed release of comic energy. A dark comedy in the truest sense, this timeless classic took the nation by storm when it first debuted in 1982. The film recounts a defining period of 20th century history and serves as a chilling and often hilarious reminder of cold-war era paranoia in the United States--artfully presented through a collage of newsreel footage, government archives, military training films, and fifties music. Profoundly shocking and perversely topical, "The Atomic Cafe" craftily captures a panicked nation, offering a fascinating and witty account of life during the atomic age and resulting cold war, when fall-out shelters, duck-and-cover drills, and government propaganda were all a part of our social consciousness. Regarded by critics as 'a nuclear Reefer Madness' and likened to Stanley Kubrick's Dr. Strangelove, this profoundly shocking and highly amusing film is a stunner, a gripping account of an unforgettable era and an indisputable 'must-see' for all Americans.
We know by now that several secret services possess poisons that leave no routinely detectable trace. These include the CIA, the Russian FSB (successor of the KGB) and the Mossad.

Hurricane Isaac lashed southern Louisiana with high winds and heavy rains on Wednesday and was set for a late-morning arrival in New Orleans, seven years to the day after Hurricane Katrina devastated the city.
Isaac is the first hurricane to make landfall in the United States this season. While not nearly as strong as Katrina -- which was a Category 3 storm when it slammed the Crescent City on August 29, 2005 -- Category 1 Isaac was still a powerful reminder of New Orleans' vulnerability.
The hurricane will be the first test for multibillion-dollar flood defenses built after levees failed under Katrina's storm surge, leaving large parts of low-lying New Orleans swamped.
The National Hurricane Center warned late on Tuesday that Isaac and its 80 mph (130kph) winds were producing dangerous storm surges, and that flooding from heavy rains was expected.
Isaac will also test the resolve of officials and the preparedness of a city and region where some 1,800 died in the 2005 hurricane, the costliest natural disaster in U.S. history.
Officials from the mayor of New Orleans to Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, to U.S. President Barack Obama, have scrambled to get ahead of the storm's impact, mindful of the chaos and botched relief efforts in the wake of Katrina.
Mayor Mitch Landrieu assured residents that this time around, "your city is secure," and said emergency services were ready for search and rescue missions.
"We're in the heart of this fight," Landrieu told a news conference. "We are in the hunker-down phase."
About 1,000 U.S. National Guard troops in military vehicles took up positions in the mostly deserted streets of New Orleans, brandishing assault rifles to maintain order. Police cars patrolled darkened streets with blue lights flashing. Obama urged residents to take heed warnings and take cover, saying that now was "not the time to tempt fate." He issued emergency declarations for Louisiana and Mississippi earlier this week.

The Department of Homeland Security will begin releasing a dead bacteria into the Boston subway tomorrow in an operation it says will test sensors designed to detect biological agents that could be released as part of a terrorist attack.
Little is known about what exactly the bacteria consists of, and the DHS has not been very forthcoming with information, saying only that it is a "non-infectious" material that has been "approved as a food supplement".
The Boston Globe reports:
The tests will begin Wednesday and will be held periodically over the next year at the Harvard and Porter Square stations in Cambridge and the Davis Square station in Somerville.

So, next time you're in a job interview - and you get to the end of it, and the interviewer asks if you have any questions for him or her about the company - here's what you should probably think about asking: "What are your company's politics?" That might sound like an odd question - and maybe not the sort of impression you want to make in a job interview - but it could save you a lot of problems farther down the road. That's because - according to a group of commissioners on the Federal Election Commission - corporations - your employers - can force you to campaign for certain politicians - whether you like it or not. They can even fire you if you choose not to. In other words - a corporation can force you to spend your day phone-banking for - say, Missouri Senate candidate Todd Akin. Or canvassing around the neighborhood for...I don't know...Michele Bachmann. Or standing on the side of the street with a sign telling people to vote for David Duke!
Now I know this sounds crazy. Don't we as employees have a right to be free from coercion in the workplace - especially when that coercion pertains to our personally held political beliefs? You would think so - but not anymore in this post-Citizens United world. Now - the rights of corporations - like the right to use their employees as cogs in their corporate political speech machine - trump your rights as an individual in the workplace - a corporations right to free speech has become more important than your right to free speech! According to FEC regulations and laws under the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 - it is illegal for a corporation to force an employee to donate money or fundraise on behalf of a political candidate. But when a case came before the FEC recently of a union corporation forcing its employees to engage in other political activity that didn't involve donating or raising money - but instead phone-banking and canvassing - the FEC ruled that it's A-OK.

Surprising as it may sound, it's entirely possible that this could include copies of almost all of the emails sent and received from most people who live in the United States.

The women wore their trademark garishly colored balaclavas, which made it difficult for police to identify them, and only three were arrested. On the Monday, August 28 edition of the Alex Jones Show, Alex covers the latest on the growing number of veterans forcibly sent to mental institutions and having their firearms taken by the government. Alex also covers the latest "eye in the sky" surveillance technology and other news covering the police state and government corruption.
After Special Justice Walter Douglas Stokes sentenced former US Marine Brandon Raub to 30 days detention in the psychiatric ward of the Veterans Hospital, Circuit Court Judge Allan Sharrett dismissed the case citing that the original petition was "devoid of any factual allegations that it could not be reasonably expected to give rise to a case or controversy."
John Whitehead, attorney for the Rutherford Institute and Raub has stated that since the former Marine's detention case, he has received numerous stated from other veterans who are being discriminated against. The latest trend is to have our former US service men and women declared mentally ill and detained against their will.
Just as Raub was forcibly detained in a mental ward, another veteran has been taken without charge or criminal activity. His firearms were confiscated and he was given a court date.
In a study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, collaborating with the VA Medical Center, an estimated 1/3rd of veterans returning from Afghanistan and Iraq were determined to be mentally or psychologically ill.
Touting post-traumatic stress disorder (PSTD), more than half of returning veterans are considered suffering from a war-related mental disorder.
The authors of the study explain: "Our results signal a need for improvements in the primary prevention of military service-related mental health disorders, particularly among our youngest service members . . . because they are young, they are more likely to be of lower rank and more likely to have greater combat exposure than their older active-duty counterparts."
However, the authors do admit that "our results may overestimate the burden of mental health disorders because veterans with mental health disorders may be more likely to seek treatment at a VA facility than those without."

Children in nine Austin high schools are to be given GPS tracking devices and assigned "mentors" in a program designed to prevent truancy yet one that also illustrates how kids are being treated like prison inmates.
"With parent permission, up to 1,700 students across eight high schools will be equipped with a GPS device that looks a lot like a cell phone. They will also be teamed up with a mentor who they have to check-in with using the device several times a day," reports KXAN.
The program is being overseen by Dallas-based AIM Truancy Solutions. The company boasts that the system has boosted attendance figures at other high schools by around 12 per cent.
Nine Austin schools are currently part of the program as well as other schools in San Antonio, Dallas and La Joya.
The idea of tracking kids with GPS devices and forcing them to check in with a "mentor" is not far removed from prisoners being made to wear GPS ankle bracelets and being assigned parole officers.
Austin is by no means the only city to use GPS technology to keep tabs on schoolchildren. Similar programs are in place across the country, including in Anaheim where kids are seventh- and eighth-graders with four unexcused absences or more in a school year are forced to carry GPS devices.
Palos Heights School District in Illinois is also using a similar system, attaching GPS locators to children's backpacks in order to "locate kids in seconds."

One of the last remaining urban bastions of fluoride-free water, the city of Portland, Oregon, is about to join the ranks of most other U.S. cities in forcibly medicating its residents with a drug that has been scientifically shown to impede proper brain development, lower IQ, damage thyroid function, and even cause cancer.
Oregon's Herald and News reports that Portland Mayor Sam Adams has decided to join two other fluoride supporters on the five-member City Council, Randy Leonard and Nick Fish, in voting to support the mass medication of Portlanders via the public water supply. The other two members, Amanda Fritz and Dan Saltzman, have expressed opposition to water fluoridation.
You can access contact information for all members of the Portland City Council by visiting: http://www.portlandonline.com/index.cfm?c=28533
At this time, there is no official date for when the council will vote on the issue. But unless the people of Portland and their supporters around the country raise hell to the Portland City Council in the following days and weeks, this three-two majority will eventually force mandatory water fluoridation to become law, despite the fact that Portlanders have repeatedly voted down water fluoridation efforts in the past.
Mayor Sam Adams says he grew up drinking fluoridated water, his hometown's website says otherwise
As part of his argument for why he supports fluoridation, Mayor Adams told reporters that he grew up drinking fluoridated water in his hometown of Newport, Oregon. This, he says, is the reason why his teeth are now white and allegedly very healthy.

Date: 08-25-12 Host: John B. Wells Guests: Robert Mazur, Barry James Dyke, William K. Black, John Truman Wolfe
Four banking experts (Robert Mazur, Barry James Dyke, William K. Black and John Truman Wolfe) joined John B. Wells, in separate hours, and exposed the terrifying truth about how corrupt bankers and businessmen manipulate complex international financial systems to serve drug lords, politicians, tax cheats, and terrorists.
In the first hour, Robert Mazur shared his insights into the shadowy world of international money laundering, which he learned via a two year undercover investigation for US customs. In recounting his story, Mazur noted that he worked with a Panamanian bank where techniques of money laundering were brazenly discussed and served as a veritable "crossroads of drug traffickers, politicians, and the intelligence community as well." Mazur explained that many American banks which are caught laundering money, often via the massive illegal drug trade, are offered "deferred prosecution" where the US government monitors their transactions for a year and simply fines the organization. He cited a recent such case where Wachovia was caught soliciting "400 billion dollars in US dollar deposits from account holders in Mexico" between 2004 and 2007.
Author Barry James Dyke joined the program in the second hour and expressed concern over how average citizens are being misled by the financial community, particularly in the form of 401k plans. Calling them "unregulated speculation," he likened 401k plans to slaves being convinced to build pyramids for the pharaohs. As such, he advised people to invest in themselves first, get out of personal debt, and practice financial patience while eschewing the idea that becoming rich can happen overnight. "We've got to end this 'instant' mentality in the United States," he mused, decrying the "casino nature of everything." Observing that it took decades for the economic crisis to develop, Dyke said that "1% of the time, it will get rebuilt. I believe that with all of my heart."
During the 3rd hour, William K. Black discussed the lack of legal accountability for banks in modern times. He recalled how the Savings and Loan crisis resulted in the prosecution of "roughly 300 institutions and 300 individuals" that were convicted 90% of the time. Contrasting it with the current economic crisis, Black lamented that not only are CEOs looting companies, but they are provided with bailouts and allowed to keep their job. "We're all being played for chumps," he observed, "this is American style crony capitalism" In light of the "revolving door" between the banks and government regulators, Black surmised that the best way to solve the problem would be to put pressure on prosecutors, via the media, to hold crooked CEOs accountable for their misdeeds.
In the final hour, John Truman Wolfe contended that the financial crisis has been orchestrated in order to collapse the US dollar and replace it with a "global monetary authority, which is essentially a global financial dictator for the planet." While he conceded that this sounds extreme, Wolfe revealed that just such an entity, known as the Bank for International Settlements, was created in 2009 at the G20 Summit. The BIS, he said, serves as central bank for all the centrals banks of the G20 nations. Wolfe warned that the "fiscal autonomy of the United States, whatever there was of it," was usurped by the BIS when President Obama signed on to the agreement. He suggested that, since joining the BIS requires Congressional approval, people need to contact Congress and demand regulatory oversight be added to the agreement.
