The article states that
the Defense Department has a highly-regarded (by whom? by themselves?) science panel which is calling for the U.S. military to improve intelligence-gathering related to climate change. (The US military looking for "Al-Qaeda" Global Warming Terrorism?)."Climate change has the potential for significant impacts on all three of the basic elements important to national and international security: defense, diplomacy and economics," says the Defense Science Board report.
They say that Global Warming is impacting America's National Security in Africa. I knew our jobs went to Africa, but our national security?
Most climate research finds that the world is cooling and yet the National Academy of Science has concluded that climate change has led to a 1-1/2 degree increase in average global surface temperatures over the last 100 years and will likely drive a 2 to 11 degree increase in the next century (2 to 11 degrees? Why such disparity?).
There also seems to be a "secret" global warming Federation of American Scientists who make recommendations to the White House and the Defense Department and want to create a DIRECTOR OF CLIMATE NATIONAL INTELLIGENCE in the Pentagon.
This group goes from a guess of a 2 to 11 degrees global temperature increase in 100 years to the exact figures of 5.4 to 7.2-degree rise in global average temperatures by the end of the century.
The report concludes with Al Gore's money-making thesis that land mass will be under water due to the melting of the West Antarctic ice sheet.
