BICYCLES ONLY ON PINELLAS TRAIL IN ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA? (VIDEO)

~

My Letter to St. Petersburg, Pinellas County and DOT in Florida:

Pinellas County states that the City of St. Petersburg manages the Pinellas Trail that runs along First Avenue South.

Please advise why this section of the Pinellas Trail has NEW signs stating BICYCLES ONLY when the trail is to be used by walkers, joggers, runners, disabled electric vehicles, skaters and skateboarders.

Mr. Fowler of Pinellas County specifically states that "Throughout the section of Trail where these signs (BICYCLES ONLY) appear pedestrians are intended to stay on the sidewalk. "

Does this mean that walkers, joggers, runners, disabled electric vehicles, skaters and skateboarders will now be ticketed or taken to jail if they use the trail?

If you just meant to keep out motorized vehicles, you could just have posted NO MOTORIZED VEHICLES signs like the rest of the trail has.

Please advise if my disabled friend is now a criminal when she rides her electric scooter on the trail? Am I a criminal when I walk and cross on the trail to catch a bus?

Also, this sign empowers some of the bicycle riders to further insult pedestrians and disabled people as they speed on the trail and go through stop signs and red lights, since they now OWN this road.

I can not see the city lawyers approving of this sign unless they were not consulted and the city did want to restrict this road to BICYCLES ONLY.

Please advise.
