In 2006 the Republican plan to privatize the US Post Office went into effect. They passed a law that the Post Office must set aside $5 Billion the first of each year in escrow for future health benefits, thus each year the post office ends BROKE by about $3 Billion, while actually making a $2 Billion profit.

So, let’s critique the Post Office.

You can now send a letter from Key West to Anchorage in a couple of days and have it delivered to an Eskimo in about two more days…for 47 cents.

Maybe that’s too much to ask. So what should we do? Well, it’s pretty clear, isn’t it? We have to disband the Post Office, do away with its unions and privatize it so that…if in fact you can ever deliver a piece of mail to an Eskimo, it will cost you $14.95 and that does not mean all Eskimos, only those living within five miles of Anchorage. That’s the Republican solution. Kill a fly with a howitzer.



HOW REPUBLICANS ARE FORCING THE POST OFFICE TO PRIVATIZE SO UPS-FEDEX-HALLIBURTON-BLACKWATER CAN GET RICHER

The Post Office is not only not allowed to raise rates, but since 2006 it has been levied an additional $5 billion a year in future health benefit escrow funds by the Republican Congress of 2006. With that payment in 2008, for example, the Post Office went into the red by $2.8 billion.

'I was talking to my friend and I said Miss Taylor was cute,' Emanyea told local WSOC news.

US casualties in the war in Afghanistan: 800 dead and 4,139 wounded

Of the American deaths, more than 600 have died in hostile action.

Some reports have put the number of U.S. deaths at 800, it should be noted that reported number is by four higher than the DoD's tally which is 796.

As of October 5, 2009, 4,139 American soldiers have been wounded in action in Afghanistan, with 2,500 not returning to duty.

10-YEAR WAR IN AFGHANISTAN CONFOUNDED THE SOVIET UNION

~

Six years into its decade-long war in Afghanistan, with thousands of soldiers in their graves, the Soviet Union was still confounded by the traditions and terrain of the hardscrabble nation.

In recently translated documents, former President Mikhail Gorbachev admits:

''If we go on in the same way, we'll have to fight for another 20-30 years! They'll soon be calling it the weird war. In six years, we haven't learned how to fight there.''

The Soviet War in Afghanistan, also known as the Soviet–Afghan War, was a nine-year conflict involving the Soviet Union, supporting the Marxist government of the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan at their own request, against the Islamist Mujahideen Resistance.

The Afghan government was also supported by India, while the mujahideen found other support from a variety of sources including the United States, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and other Muslim nations through the context of the Cold War and the regional India-Pakistan conflict.

The initial Soviet deployment of the 40th Army in Afghanistan began on December 24, 1979 under the leadership of Soviet President Leonid Brezhnev.

The final troop withdrawal started on May 15, 1988, and ended on February 15, 1989 under the last Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev.

Due to the interminable nature of the war, the conflict in Afghanistan has often been referred to as the Soviets' Vietnam; in relation to the Vietnam War.
