#TzipiLivni A war criminal’s “special mission”: avoid arrest

~

The failure to uphold Britain’s obligations towards universal jurisdiction were demonstrated this week when Tzipi Livni met with Foreign Secretary William Hague in London and managed to avoid arrest for alleged war crimes.

Livni’s previous, disrupted, visit to London in late 2009 was the catalyst for the British government’s move to change the law on universal jurisdiction.

The then Labour government began to make changes to universal jurisdiction and these were put into effect by the Coalition with the recent Royal Assent for the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Bill.

The changes to the law mean that the Director of Public Prosecutions has to give consent to any application for an arrest warrant with prima facie evidence, whereby previously any citizen could apply to Westminster Magistrates Court for such a warrant.

The protests against Wall Street finance giants that began in New York have spread to a dozen other cities, including Tampa.

A protest by a group called "Occupy Tampa" that took place Saturday was small and peaceful, but a YouTube threat has caught the attention of city officials.

Bank of America Under Hacking Attack?

For a third consecutive business day Bank of America’s homepage is suffering serious disruption.

The nation’s largest bank by deposits, with 12 percent of Americans’ bank accounts and over a trillion dollars in deposits, told ABC News “the cause is still under review, but we have ruled out hacking, malware, or any link to the debit fee. We have not said the issues were due to volume either.”

Despite repeated requests from ABC News, the bank has refused to explain the source of these now chronic service problems.

Syrian President Bashar Assad warned western countries on Tuesday that if Syria comes under NATO attack it would fire missiles at Tel Aviv, Israel.

"If a crazy measure is taken against Damascus, I will need not more than 6 hours to transfer hundreds of rockets and missiles to the Golan Heights to fire them at Tel Aviv."

DENVER: Raymond Davis, who sparked a diplomatic flap when he shot dead two men in Lahore in January, was charged with felony assault in Colorado on Monday stemming from a fight over a parking space.

Davis, 37, was arrested over the weekend in the Denver suburb of Highlands Ranch after police received reports of a fight underway outside a bagel shop there, Sergeant Ron Hanavan of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said.
