Irish Prime Minister Condemns Vatican For Hiding Catholic Priests' Raping Children

Ireland’s Prime Minister Enda Kenny made a historic attack on the Roman Catholic Church July 20 after revelations that the church had been covering up child abuse as recently as three years ago.

The Catholic Church has had endemic problems with sexual abuse for hundreds, if not thousands, of years.

Several reports in recent years have shown shocking cases of abuse covered up by the church. The Vatican has argued that the church has learned from its mistakes and is now cooperating with authorities to stamp out the abuse.
