Airborne laser fails 2nd shootdown test in row

A converted Boeing Co 747 equipped with a powerful laser failed to shoot down a mock enemy ballistic missile, the Pentagon's Missile Defense Agency said on Thursday, the system's second botched flight test in a row.

In other news, a mysterious hole appeared through the image of Lincoln at Mount Rushmore. A Pentagon spokesslug suggested that the hole, bored clean through 50 feet of solid rock, might be the work of extraterrestrial aliens angered over humans' refusal to give their money to Al Gore.

The US Government decided to repair the Mount Rushmore Memorial by completely redoing it and rededicating it to the American Tax Paying Public. New name will be MOUNT TAXMORE.
