Bachmann’s mother and two cousins told POLITICO’s Emily Schultheis that Bachmann didn’t attend the reunion, though her husband and children did. Her spokeswoman, Alice Stewart, didn’t respond to two emails asking for an explanation of the disparity.

Bachmann told Chris Wallace on “Fox News Sunday” that same morning that she was looking forward to the reunion.

“We’re having a big family reunion today in northeastern Iowa so I’ll get to go and see all my relatives,” she said.

Bachmann Predicted The World Would End In 2006: ‘We Are In The Last Days’

Bachmann offered the prayer in 2006 (though the recording was uploaded in 2008). In it, Bachmann predicts, “We are in the last days,” and says, “The harvest is at hand” — a Biblical allusion to the Rapture when some believe God will take saved Christians from the earth and leave the non-believers to face several years of torment and tribulation before the second coming of Christ:


BACHMANN: Lord, the day is at hand. We are in the last days. You are a Jehovah God. We know that the times are in your hands. And we give them to you…The day is at hand, Lord, when your return will come nigh. Nothing is more important than bringing sheep into the fold. Than bringing new life into the kingdom…You have weeded that garden. The harvest is at hand.

Janeane Garofalo: Marcus Bachmann (Michele Bachmann's husband) ‘seems quite gay to me’

But rather than dropping jokes, Garofalo dropped a bombshell.

“Marcus Bachmann concerns me, because I don’t like anyone who attacks the gay, lesbian, transgendered community, anyway, but especially one that seems to be — this is not a criticism — but he seems to be quite gay to me,” she said.

Dr. Marcus Bachmann, Michele Bachmann’s husband, owns a Christian counseling center that reportedly practices a discredited “reparative therapy” aimed at converting gay patients into heterosexuals.

Marcus said in a radio interview that “barbarians need to be educated” when asked how parents should deal with non-heterosexual children.
