'United States equates gun with freedom' (VIDEO)

A significant portion of Americans equate gun ownership with the notion of freedom, a means to protect themselves from the central government, a professor tells Press TV.

The comment comes as the United States most powerful pro-gun lobbying group, the National Rifle Association (NRA) has rejected greater firearm regulation and vowed to fight any new gun restrictions introduced in Congress.

Press TV has conducted an interview with Professor Lawrence Davidson, an author and historian from Westchester, to further discuss the issue.
