The number of American soldiers killed in Afghanistan has reached 1,000, according to an independent website.
A tally on Icasualties.org, which tracks military deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan, claims that 54 U.S. soldiers have died in combat so far this year.
Besides the U.S. fatalities, the report said, 37 soldiers from other NATO countries had been killed in conflict so far this year, bringing the total deaths to 657.
