Will Cheney walk away scot-free?

Former US vice-president Dick Cheney used to be the most powerful man in the world. He may now be in so much trouble that his supporters ought to start a legal fund that will cover forthcoming expenses.

Revelations that Cheney authorized the CIA to carry out killings of Al Qaida leaders in friendly countries such as Kenya and Egypt without the knowledge of their governments and, worse, forbidding the agency to brief a selected group of Senators and Representatives, surfaced to everyone's consternation even if few should have been surprised.

Will the law now prevail or will Cheney walk away scot-free?
