(Ah, but you see; Israel does not want a diplomatic solution.
This is why they have given the US and the US Ambassador Khalizad their "marching orders" to defuse any possible UN resolution regarding a potential cease-fire, with instructions to veto such a resolution immediately, and prevent it from ever taking place.
What Israel wants is the military victory, enabling them to re-occupy all of Gaza. Of course, what happens to Gazan Palestinians once this is accomplished (those left standing, that is), is anyone's guess. - WRH)
