Health Alert: California Proposition 37

HEALTH ALERT: On November 6th, California voters will vote on Proposition 37, a statute that would force the producers of genetically engineered foods to appropriately label such foods, and it would furthermore prevent genetically modified ingredients from being labeled as "natural".

The United States is currently the only country in the civilized world that does not legally require honest labeling on genetically engineered foods.  If ratified into law, this California decision would have a tremendous impact upon the entire United States, because California is the largest source of American agriculture, and all of its genetically modified produce would require labeling.  It would ultimately force companies to label genetically engineered foods nationwide, because it would become too expensive and logistically difficult to label California foods differently than those sold in other states.
