Dick Cheney Says "Illegal" Torture Was Legal

~

Dick Cheney fears that this investigation will lead to him

Mr. Cheney said he also supported officers who strayed outside Justice Department rules and used unauthorized interrogation techniques, saying they did so to keep Americans safe. And he warned that Mr. Holder’s investigation would demoralize intelligence officers and discourage them from working aggressively to protect the nation.

**************************

Per the above paragraph, Mr. Cheney is saying that some interrogators actually tortured and used techniques considered illegal even by the Bush/Cheney government and definitely by the Geneva Conventions and the International Criminal Court.

These interrogators could be subject to the death penalty by the international laws and even by American laws.

But, Mr. Cheney says, since they did it to keep Americans safe (which is debatable) these interrogators are above the law.

Comes back to the basic Bush/Cheney rule: “If they do it, it’s beastly, gruesome, cruel, disgusting, heinous, hideous, revolting, shameful and ungodly. If we do it, it’s justifiable and above the law.”

Four years after Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans still needs us

~

Click on picture for full size

We all know there was poor preparation by local agencies (mostly Democrats) and a famously botched response by federal emergency officials (mostly Republicans).

We know that heroic media reporting, particularly by the Times-Picayune newspaper, was accompanied by wild, false rumors of cannibalism and vigilante violence.

Four years later, New Orleans has taken impressive steps toward recovery. Following a drastic reduction in population, the number of households in the city now stands at 77% of its pre-hurricane total.

While blight remains a problem - 31% of New Orleans' residential housing stock remains unoccupied - the city issued 1,420 permits for new construction in May this year, nearly double the number issued in the same month last year.

That's some of the good news.

The bad news is that the city's system of protective levees and canals remains inadequate.

Are you getting milk or getting sick?

~

Studies over the past ten years have led researchers to believe that there is a direct correlation between milk consumption and ailments including breast and gastrointestinal cancers, as well as bowel obstructions and prepubescent growth.

Many argue that man has been consuming milk for thousands of years.

Only for the last fifty years, though, has man begun to add hormones, such as biosynthetic bovine growth hormone (rBGH), to dairy cows’ systems.

But why?

Because of such high strains to maximize profits, business and agriculture are looking in many directions to get the most for their money.

Examples of this can be found in foods such as eggs, where hormones are added to make the shell stronger so it will not break in transit, and milk, where cows are treated with antibiotics in order to produce larger quantities of milk.

The rBGH hormones, such as those found in Posilac, are given to cows in order to produce more milk, in some cases doubling milk production. This is the primary cause of contaminants in the milk produced.

Next, since the cow’s bodies are not suited to produce so much milk, they often develop mastitis, an infection of their udders. This requires a hormone cream, which is the second contaminant.

One or both of these additional hormones leads to the mechanistic production of Insulin-Like Growth Factor, the third contaminant in milk.

It is a domino effect that could be prevented simply by not giving the cows rBGH to produce more milk

Studies conducted by Dr. Samuel S. Epstein correlate cow consumption of rBGH to elevated levels of Insulin-like Growth Factor I (IGF-1) in milk.

This disproves one of the industry’s claims that pasteurization removes all toxic residues in milk. This study actually suggests that it enhances the effectiveness of IGF-1.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) argues that milk contains a healthy balance of fat, calories, and protein, as well as Vitamin A, Vitamin D, and calcium. Milk should be consumed as part of a balanced diet everyday.

The USDA even offers the nutritional information right on the container of every gallon of milk produced.

But what about the ingredients that are not listed: conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), estrogen, insulin-like growth factor I, and biosynthetic bovine growth hormone?

These are nowhere to be found on the dietary info chart, nor on the list of ingredients.

The Secret History of Hurricane Katrina

~

But there's an even harsher truth, one some New Orleans residents learned in the very first days but which is only beginning to become clear to the rest of us:

What took place in this devastated American city was no less than a war, in which victims whose only crimes were poverty and blackness were treated as enemies of the state.

Police baffled as dozens of 'suicidal' cows throw themselves off cliff in the Alps

~

Swiss mystery: Dozens of cows' bodies litter the valley floor after they mysteriously fell from the alpine cliff many feet above

In the space of just three days, 28 cows and bulls have mysteriously died after they plunged hundreds of metres to rocks below where they were killed instantly.

In each case, local mountain rescue services using a helicopter had to be called in to remove the bodies because of the danger to the local groundwater of pollution.

A police spokesman said: 'There are no large carnivores living in the Alps anymore who would once have disposed of the bodies so they have to be moved.

****************************

Chimp comment:

And they say that TV is not a bad influence. On a recent episode of “South Park” hundreds of cows committed suicide by jumping off a cliff in the cartoon Colorado city.

We must control what these Swiss cows watch on late night TV. South Park is a bad influence on immature cows.

Soon, they will be mugging skiers if they watch too many criminal shows on local Alp TV.

Exposed: 10 foods you think are healthy but aren't

~

"But it's got lettuce, tomato and sesame seeds in it!"

You join a gym and diligently workout – heck, you even spring for a personal trainer.

But you just can’t seem to lose weight, or worse, your doctor tells you that your cholesterol is high, your blood pressure is high. Some mornings, you wake up groggy. Most days, you’re tired by three. What the ... ?

Don’t cancel your gym membership, instead open your refrigerator, check your cupboards, chances are you’re eating one of these dubiously healthy foods that can actually make you fat, even sick.

Yogurt - culprit number one simply as it is deliberately sold as a healthy food. The egregious yogurts I am referring to are the conventional, brands advertised on television (the most familiar being the one of the brunette that keeps weighing herself, until she’s finally a size 0, ready for the beach. Nonsense). Yogurts should taste tart. If it tastes like ice cream, it contains added sugar and other “enriched” ingredients. Good yogurt is healthy and you should eat one a day. See BestCovery.com for the brands of yogurt I recommend.

Cranberry Juice – you might think you’re doing good for your bladder when in fact you’re drinking purple sugar water. Pure cranberries are sour — lemon sour. You wouldn’t be able to drink a teaspoon without squirming, let alone a glass. The added cranberry contained in these popular brands are insufficient to claim any medicinal or preventative value. Do yourself a favor, if you want to avoid a bladder infection with cranberries, opt for capsules. Or drink plain water.

Diet Soda – diet anything. If you take the fat out, you are removing flavor, so you must replace it with sugar, and in this case, the sugar too is fake. If it contains any of the following, chuck it: aspartame (Nutrasweet), sucralose (Splenda), Saccharin (Sweet’nLow). These are all artificial sweeteners made in a lab. It says on the packaging that it kills animals. Sure, those animals were fed a diet of artificial crap, but so are a lot of people. Stevia sweetner was just recently approved by the FDA and is made with plants. I use it in my coffee. It is an acquired taste. My favorite is Navitas Naturals.

Energy Bars – before you munch on one of these, check the fat calories. You’re eating a candy bar. What’s the energy, here? Protein. But why sacrifice your waistline for a quick rush? Get your protein from whey or hemp. Put some in your water bottle. Some true energy bars (nutrient dense and loaded with fiber, vegetables and other superfoods): Vega Whole Food Vibrance bars, Garden of Life’s Organic Perfect

Soy Milk – marketed as a dairy substitute, the benefits of soy milk are weak. Non-fermented soy products can cause a variety of health problems if consumed in large quantities (as in cereal, lattes or with dinner). Soy milk also contains the same insulin substance found in milk, which has been linked to breast cancer. Opt, instead for hemp (I like Manitoba Harvest and Living Harvest brands) or almond milk.

Cereal – an American breakfast staple and a bachelor’s turn-to dinner, a bowl of cereal is quick, easy and not that great for you. Cereals that claim to help you lose weight and lower your cholesterol probably aren’t. Most people consume cereal with milk or soy milk, negating any of the health and weight loss benefits. Try flax flakes, or make your own cereal at Me and Goji.

Mineral Water – don’t think that you’re body is absorbing the minerals contained in mineral water; they’re simply too coarse. Sometimes, the minerals in mineral water is sodium, which should be avoided with people who suffer from high-blood pressure. The best waters are unaltered, mature spring water, preferably artesian.

Milk - additives, hormones, preservatives, steroids and is pasteurized. Pasteurization obliterates all of the nutrients, enzymes, vitamins and denatures the protein content. Why would anyone want to drink this stuff? Calcium? You get calcium from vegetables. Eat at least six servings a day.

Peanut Butter – ever load up your protein shake with peanut butter, thinking you’re getting even more protein? Try fat. Especially if you get your shake at smoothie shops, gym bars and other shake places. Real peanut butter is made with peanuts and peanuts aren’t sweet. Peanut butter is indeed good for you, but you won’t find any benefits consuming conventional brands (and the protein content is minimal). See BestCovery.com for the brands of peanut butter that I recommend.

Bran Muffins – muffins are miniature cakes (and it still counts even if you just eat the tops, like Elaine did on Seinfeld). Skip the Starbucks muffin and get the protein plate or order their oatmeal.

Healthy food obsession sparks rise in new eating disorder

~

Fixation with healthy eating can be sign of serious psychological disorder

Eating disorder charities are reporting a rise in the number of people suffering from a serious psychological condition characterised by an obsession with healthy eating.

The condition, orthorexia nervosa, affects equal numbers of men and women, but sufferers tend to be aged over 30, middle-class and well-educated.

The condition was named by a Californian doctor, Steven Bratman, in 1997, and is described as a "fixation on righteous eating".

Until a few years ago, there were so few sufferers that doctors usually included them under the catch-all label of "Ednos" – eating disorders not otherwise recognised.

Now, experts say, orthorexics take up such a significant proportion of the Ednos group that they should be treated separately.

Startling New Evidence That The ‘Swine Flu’ Pandemic Is Man-Made

I will provide more than enough hard evidence to at least result in a series of criminal indictments of charges of MASS MURDER, and CONSPIRACY TO COMMIT WORLD GENOCIDE against Novartis Pharmaceutical principals and agents and others.

PRIMARY MOTIVE

The Primary Motive behind this alleged criminal activity is also the primary cause of most murders in the world today, and that motivation is simply: BIG MONEY.

Billions of Dollars of windfall profits from government contracts worldwide, as a matter of fact.

I will provide evidence that will show that Novartis Pharmaceuticals of Basel, Switzerland has conspired with corrupt “scientists” at the U.S. Army Institute of Pathology Ft. Detrick, Maryland, to create a “novel” strain of weaponized “influenza” virus by means of “reverse engineering” the deadly 1918 killer strain which strain was maliciously and surreptitiously released upon the world in March and April of 2009 for the primary purpose of creating a panic-stricken world-wide demand for Novartis vaccine material.

The coming internet Fascism

Our central leviathan government is poised to give Obama ‘emergency control of the internet.’ If this sounds like an egregious usurpation of power, that’s because it is.

And so: the CIA contracted a Mafia boss to murder Fidel Castro, sent biotoxins to the Republic of Congo with orders to poison Patrice Lumumba and tested LSD on unsuspecting citizens (one of whom jumped out of a window to his death).

It fomented coups and bloodshed against democratically elected governments, while the National Security Agency, in coordination with the major telegram companies, read every single telegram coming in or going out of the country for three decades.

The FBI infiltrated peaceful antiwar groups, breaking up marriages of activists with forged evidence of infidelity, while surveilling civil rights leaders with an assortment of bugs and break-ins.

It even attempted to blackmail Martin Luther King Jr. into committing suicide, shipping him tapes of him midcoitus with a mistress and a note that said, "There is but one way out for you. You better take it before your filthy, abnormal fraudulent self is bared to the nation."

This is a good article showing how the US turned from good guy to bad guy in order to fight communism and terrorism. However, it's a bad article in that it doesnt' disclose that most of the terrorism was created by the US in order to please the military industrial complex. 9/11 was an inside job. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 and had no WMDs. US creayted terrorists by killing over a million Iraqis and other Middle Eastern peopole. Al-Qaeda was created by the CIA and does not exist. Osama bin Laden was woreking for the CIA. The Lockerbie Bomber was the CIA. Many attacks blamed on our "enemies" were actually done by the CIA and/or Mossad. Etc...

Sarah Palin: the most famous Alaskan in history

~

Sarah Palin has become the most famous Alaskan in history. Celebrity is her one accomplishment since John McCain selected her as his running mate a year ago.

The rest of the last year has held, for her, turmoil and failure.

After bringing Republican National Convention delegates in St. Paul to their feet during her acceptance speech, Palin proved she lacked the experience, education, self-awareness and media savvy to campaign successfully for vice president.

The more voters knew about her, the less they expressed confidence in her.

Palin's shrill attacks on Barack Obama as a friend of terrorists and as a dilettante community organizer transformed many Americans who were neutral or indifferent to her into unforgiving enemies.

She also went out of her way to create enemies in Alaska.

Before she left for St. Paul, the governor cooperated with Alaska Democrats, sought them out as allies in passing oil, gas and ethics legislation.

After St. Paul, she began feuding with them - especially over Troopergate - and a donnybrook of name calling and charges followed that lasted for months.

Shut up, Sarah Palin

When Sarah Palin was chosen as McCain's pick for vice president, I took the news with decided optimism. I reasoned that she was a good political choice. She was young, pretty, female, charismatic, and different.

Then I realized I had just described all of the qualities of a good candidate for Miss America and began to change my stance.

As the campaign went on, I quickly realized that she wouldn't have stood a chance in the Miss America Pageant.

She had the speaking ability of Miss Teen South Carolina, and about all the brains.

No, I am not impressed by the fact that she is "a hockey mom" or that she enjoys wearing lipstick.

US plan for Colombia base raises tension

A U.S. deal on military bases in Colombia is pitting Bogota against many neighboring countries, which feared the bases would threaten their national security and heighten regional tension, Xinhua reported.

Venezuela, which borders Colombia to the north, is the most vehement opponent of the plan. Its president Hugo Chavez on Tuesday instructed the foreign ministry to get prepared to sever ties with Bogota.

Bolivian President Evo Morales proposed Wednesday that South Americans vote in a continent-wide referendum on the issue.

Others, including Uruguay, Ecuador, Argentina and Brazil supported the Union of South American Nations (Unasur) to intervene in the case.

The Unasur has decided to meet on Friday in Argentina to discuss the issue.

Madoff NOT dying of cancer - Prisons Bureau

The latest update on the health of convicted fraudster Bernard Madoff, from the Federal Bureau of Prisons, is that Madoff is NOT dying of cancer.

A spokeswoman said in a written statement: “Bernie Madoff is not terminally ill, and has not been diagnosed with cancer”, although the bureau didn’t deal with every point raised in the New York Post story.

The Post had reported that the fraudster, who is serving a 150-year jail sentence in a North Carolina prison, had told inmates he does not have long to live, and quoted one inmate saying Madoff was taking “about 20 pills a day” and was “not doing very well”.

Legal experts said a serious illness could have guided Madoff’s decision to plead guilty to the $65 billion Ponzi scheme.

However, one victims’ lawyer, Joseph Cotchett, said he had seen no indication that Madoff was sick when he visited him in prison last month.

Another George W. Bush legacy: $150 oil

~

What's another legacy, in addition to massive income inequality, of President George W. Bush? Try $150-per-barrel oil.

Here's why: Despite rising demand for gasoline, the Bush administration did nothing to increase the Corporate Average Fuel Economy mandate.

Their policy was to let the market determine which vehicles Americans want to drive. The result? Detroit built gas-guzzling SUVs with little eye on the future, all but guaranteeing a domestic auto manufacturing base unprepared for the next rise in oil and gasoline prices.

That era arrived in 2008, when gasoline bills soared, disposable incomes plunged, and the economy, already stalled by the financial crisis and housing bust, slumped further.

A tax cut that led to debt

The Bush administration's 2001 $1.1 trillion tax cut that favored upper-income groups instantaneously ended the federal government's budget surplus, creating a $250 billion deficit that quickly swelled to $400 billion.

The tax cut, tilted toward Bush's political base of the wealthy, virtually guaranteed that broad-based demand would remain soft, and probably fail, in a few years. It did, and the deficit ballooned - hitting about $1.1 trillion, including bank bailout spending, by the time President Bush left office in January 2009.

Blackwater's Unwritten Death Contract

George W. Bush and Dick Cheney made 'terrorification' of Congress a high priority, and congressional leaders caved, winking even at torture, kidnapping, warrantless eavesdropping. Vengeance is ours, said the President. And the vast majority of Christian leaders were cowed into razoring out of their Bibles 'Blessed are the Peacemakers', notes Ray McGovern.

Hats off to Mark Mazzetti of the New York Times for reporting that it was after CIA Director Leon Panetta’s holdover lieutenants finally told him that, under President Bush, they had farmed out assassinations to their Blackwater subsidiary, that he abruptly stopped the project and told Congress.

I use “they” advisedly, since the CIA officials who had kept Panetta in the dark continue to function as Panetta’s top managers at the agency.

Sarah Palin's List of "Seven Books You Simply Must Burn"

They said I have to start being a "taste-maker" if people are goin' to take me seriously and that I should get the ball rollin' by issuin' a list of books I like. (I found out later they meant "books I like to read" but by that point, I was already done with the list.)

My summer burnin' list was pretty extensive. There really is nothing quite like relaxin' on one of Juno's many beaches with a roarin' bonfire of objectionable ideas. Plus, we all know that books are anti-environmental since they're made from trees. So, it's totally green to burn them in bulk.

CIA Accused of Third Torture Prison in Europe

~

"...we ship them over to Lithuania and Poland and Romania to be tortured, he, he, he."

As Americans continue to debate the torture era of the Bush administration, a new report has emerged about the alleged existence of a third secret prison used by the CIA in Europe.

According to ABC News, the CIA operated a "black site" prison in Lithuania until the end of 2005.

Following reports on "black site" prisons in Poland, ABC News is now reporting that a third jail existed in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius.

According to the report, as many as eight prisoners were held there for at least one year.

Unwritten Death Contract Awarded to Blackwater

~

CIA Director Panetta's top lieutenants, many of them holdovers from the last administration, had just told him that, under President Bush, they had farmed out assassinations to their Blackwater subsidiary.

I use “they” advisedly, since the CIA holdovers that had kept Panetta in the dark continue to function as Panetta's top managers.

Panetta abruptly stopped the project and contritely briefed the intelligence committees.

Until now, it was not clear what had prompted Panetta to set up hurried consultations with the intelligence “oversight” committees of the House and Senate.

An odd odor still hangs over the affair. After being briefed by Panetta, one committee member described him as “stunned” that his lingering lieutenants had kept information on the program from him until nearly five months into his tenure.

Yet there is not the faintest hint that anyone on either committee dared to ask why Panetta continues to leave such tainted officials in very senior positions.

Ridge: Osama Terror Tape Was Actually Cheney in Beard

~

Dick Cheney in dressing room trying various beards to look like Osama bin Laden

Humor?

Former Department of Homeland Security secretary Tom Ridge unleashed another bombshell today, revealing that a terror tape of Osama bin Laden that was released just prior to the 2004 election was actually Dick Cheney in a beard.

According to Mr. Ridge, in October of 2004 he was called into a "secret meeting" at the White House which "turned out to be a fashion show, basically, with Dick Cheney trying on a series of Osama bin Laden beards."

Mr. Ridge said that President George W. Bush "personally selected" the beard that Mr. Cheney went on to wear in the chilling video.

The former Homeland Security secretary said that he was "shocked" that Mr. Cheney would try to hoodwink the American people by dressing as Osama bin Laden, but said "I decided to bite my tongue because I realized that if I ever wrote a book this would be really good for sales."

Can you tell which one is Dick Cheney?

Study suggests paraffin-made candles cause cancer

~

A new study suggests a candlelit bath isn't that romantic as it looks like because paraffin, the widely used candle-making material based on petroleum, emits toxins when it burns.

Those toxic pollutants, including benzene, toluene and ketones, lead to diseases like cancer, asthma and birth defects, according to the research by the scientists from Orangeburg-based South Carolina State University.
